Hi, I'm Colin, CEO of Customer.io,

I’m looking for our next Chief of Staff to join me in scaling Customer.io as we build the next stage of our business. Our first Chief of Staff test was challenging, but a success, and we’re excited for someone to fill the next “term” by leveraging and improving on what’s been built.

You’ll have full access to everything I see and support our executive team through consistency, clear communication, and follow-through. My goal is to have another person with my vantage point on the business to help both me and the company be more effective.

If you don’t know Customer.io, we’re a Customer Engagement Platform that works with over 7500 businesses to help them send emails, push notifications, and webhooks to automate their communication and their businesses. We launched Customer Data Pipelines in 2023, establishing our position as a multi-product company.

Chief of Staff Responsibilities

You’ll begin by shadowing our current Chief of Staff and me. After a few weeks of observing, I’ll begin handing some of my responsibilities to you. These include:

Executive Team Meetings

You’ll manage the agenda and keep us on track in all executive team conversations as well as planning and offsites. We meet twice a week to cover rocks, business metrics, and hot topics and once per quarter in person to plan what’s next.

Monthly Business Reviews

You’ll run a “Monthly Business Review” with our extended leadership team. You’ll make sure the meeting is on the calendar each month, and people have done their write-up ahead of the meeting. When we meet, you’ll own the agenda and if there are action items, you’ll own making sure they get done.

Improve how the company works

To keep scaling our globally distributed company, we need to make sure how we work is supporting the needs of the team. We’ve established a cadence and ways of working, and want someone to find opportunities to improve on it. You’ll look at how different parts of the company are working together and recommend and implement changes to help us keep growing.

Support CEO on written & verbal comms

Our company has a culture of writing. I'm often writing up our approach, values, or other lessons learned to share with the team. Sometimes I'm doing kickoffs for the year and emceeing our monthly company meetings. You’ll be an editor and collaborator to help make sure I'm communicating about the right things and the message gets across as clearly as possible.
